Media Instructor
Arts and education organization seeks an AmeriCorps members for the position of arts instructor. Member is responsible for day-to-day operations of the programs. Member must be familiar with technical aspects of photography and filmmaking, be able to demonstrate knowledge to children and young adults, and implement a curriculum that is centered on life skills building through the vehicle of media production. This is a part-time position 25-30 hours per/wk. Tasks require that you undergo a criminal background check, basic orientation, and reference screening. A $4,725 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or $1,200 post-service stipend Modest living allowance Student loan forbearance or deferment while in service One year of noncompetitive status for a federal government job Access to the network of VISTA & VISTA alumni (170,000 strong) Roles and responsibilities · Lead or co-lead In-school and Out-of-School programs · Collaborate with supervisor on program-related tasks · Attend workshops and meetings · Document and collect program data · Assist in carrying out recruitment strategy · Pick up supplies when needed · Enforces rules and regulations · Correspond with guest instructors · Assist in preparation for performances/exhibitions Qualifications Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in education, or a related media field. Required Skills & Experience Experience working with youth programs Flexible, creative, and an excellent communicator Media experience required (video, production, photojournalism, etc.) Organizational skills and problem solving skills Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office, and the internet)
